The ninth largest city of United States is Dallas. Dallas city is also third largest among the cities of the state of Texas as well as the county seat of Dallas County. The city boasts as the main cultural and economic center of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. Later is the fourth largest metropolitan area of US. The city was founded in the year 1841 and formally got listed as the city in the year 1856. Petroleum industry, telecommunications, computer technology, banking, and transportation owe their history to the city of Dallas. Dallas city is served by two commercial airports namely Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport known as DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field. Apart from that there is the Dallas Executive Airport and Addison Airport which serves the purpose of general aviation.
Among these, the most widely used airport of the city is DFW International Airport. The airport is located north of downtown Dallas. The airport is equidistant from the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. In short, the airport serves the twin cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. DFW International Airport is the busiest airport in the state of Texas and in terms of aircraft movements; the airport is sixth busiest in the world. However, in terms of land area DFW International Airport is the largest in the US state of Texas, second largest in United States, and forth largest in the world. The airport serves 36 International destinations and 129 domestic destinations.
DFW International Airport serves as the principal hub of American Airlines which alone accounts for 800 departures daily. Another airlines having its main hub at the airport is called American Eagle. Apart from that there are other airlines operating flights from the airport namely Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Mesa Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Northwest Airlink, and US Airways Express. Among the international airlines that operate from the airport are British Airways, Lufthansa, Korean Air, Air Canada, and American Airlines. The airport has 5 terminals from A to E. among these, Terminal D is an international terminal where international flights arrive and depart. The other 4 terminals operate domestic flights to the principal cities of United States.
